When the human understanding of gravitation progressed to the point where we can manipulate gravitational fields at will... one of the best things we can do is to use gravity to turn our entire solar system, or what ever part of space that life critically needs for survival, into a space ship. This literally imply that all matter and energy that is currently required to sustain life becomes our space ship... a ship made of space.
Since gravity is a property of curved space-time it should be possible to achieve this vryIdee.
Just think what can be achieved if we have the ability to move around in space at will, by using gravity. In the effort to achieve this vryIdee we will most probably learn how to use gravity in a number of other different ways, or maybe we find out that it will be easier to achieve this vryIdee on very large scales instead of on the small scales... who know? When it comes to the human mind, size does not matter...
When this vryIdee fly, who will decide where we will be going? I, for one, don't care too much... lets go!
